Vaccines special issue “Immunogenic Effects of Electroporation-Based Treatments”.

Guest Editors: Prof. Emanuela Signori, Prof. Maja Čemažar, Prof. Mariangela De Robertis, Prof. Loreé C. Heller and Prof. Richard Heller.

Induction of immunological effects and enhancement of the immune system response induced by genetic vaccines and/or immunomodulatory molecules, administered alone or in combination with other therapeutic treatments by EP, will be discussed. Presentations of results on the immunological effects of drugs delivered by electric fields in pre-clinical and clinical trials will be very welcome as well.

A special 20% discount on APC is reserved to the participants at the 4th World Congress for their submissions.

Deadline for manuscript submissions: March 25th, 2023

Obituary - Justin Teissié 1947-2020

We are profoundly saddened by the passing of Justin Teissié, a pioneer in the study of biological membranes and the basic processes of electroporation, on 23 September 2020, in Toulouse http://www.ipbs.fr/obituary-justin-teissie-1947-2020

We lose a Master, a guide, a generous friend. His role model and his scientific integrity, as well as the light touch of irony and wide open-mindedness, will remain forever to inspire all of us involved in electroporation studies. Emanuela Signori, looking at Justin’s moral heritage, aims to go ahead in her research studies with his same intellectual honesty and vision towards the future.

 3° World Congress on Electroporation

Toulouse-France, September 3-6 2019. The 3rd World Congress on Electroporation and Pulsed Electric Fields in Biology, Medicine, and Food & Environmental Technologies, a meeting organized with the intent of bringing together people from different disciplines involved in basic research or developing applications based on electroporation and use of pulsed electric fields.

Registration and Call for abstracts from 1 December 2018.

Emanuela Signori is member of the Scientific Program Committee, and LaPMOS is involved in the organization of the onco-immunonology session.

In November 2016 LaPMOS has been awarded by a short term mobility from CNR. The grant allowed Dr Signori to visit the Laboratorio de Sistemas Complejos (LSC), Departamento de Computación e Instituto de Física del Plasma, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires y Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET), Buenos Aires - Argentina.

The two multidisciplinary groups collaborate through the contribution of respective grants received for electrotransfer studies. Preliminary protocols of combined treatments in tumor affected dogs are being conducted. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) and injections of a single plasmid vector carrying immunomodulatory DNA sequences, delivered by electroporation, have demonstrated a tumor regression and an elicited immune response in the animals treated in the last two years.

Dr Emanuela Signori and Prof Guillermo Marhall have been received by the Science Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Prof. José Kenny.

During the meeting, they illustrated the joint project of the two labs and plans for future collaborations.

Signori

During her stay in Buenos Aires, Dr Signori visited the Hospital Italiano. The authorities have demonstrated great interest for the translational project on-going between LaPMOS and LSC. They agreed to take part into the research program as partner of the joint project.

Due to the importance of the research project and the collaboration programs established between CNR and CONICET, Dr Signori and Dr Maglietti (LSC), have been interviewed by Dr. Paola Gezzi at the TV program Salud y Calidad De Vida”.
